Playroom Organization that Inspires
We recently tackled an exciting project, teaming up with Onyx Interiors to create organization using functional decor that will inspire creativity and play with sustainable systems to make picking up a breeze.
We selected storage solutions that would complement the beautifully designed space. Neutrals with texture and touches of gold hardware and light wood to connect to the furniture and decor that was already in place.
We selected the Rue 3 Cube Low Bookcase from Crate & Kids that fit seamlessly below the playhouse reading nook and between oversized window frame. We take all measurements during our in-home consultation to make sure we are sourcing the best products for our client’s spaces. It was the perfect storage solution for activity books to be stored away, but easily accessible from the darling table. We also took advantage of the vertical space in the corner by adding an acrylic tiered table to hold an art supply caddy and Everything Organizer magazine holders to store loose leaf paper and art journals.
For LEGO storage we decided on SmartStore latch bin totes with different accessory inserts to keep different packs separated while the young builder works through his creations. We also maximized the space in the burledwood cabinet by adding 12x12 Brightroom Open Front bins to easily collect different action figures and small toys like fidgets.
The space we really focused on marrying form + function, was highlighting the Serena & Lily Driftway Bookshelves with solutions that felt like a natural extension of the decor elements in the room, but also provided containment for various toys. We adore these affordable faux leather bins by Threshold. The soft cream color grounds the lower shelf and by choosing an opaque bin over acrylic helps hide visual distraction. Bonus, they are 11” deep and keep their structure . The touch of gold pulls in with the hardware on the cabinet doors below and gorgeous light fixtures overhead. Best of all, they will continue to serve the space as their young son grows and his interests change.
Continuing up the shelves, we repurposed lidded herringbone boxes the homeowner’s had already owned to store a few less used items at arm’s reach, and used the top two shelves for display of favorite books and his growing LEGO creations. This was a great space to think outside of the box and use acrylic plate stands to create height and add more display to the shelving.
Inside the cabinet we used a Container Store favorite, whitewashed rattan bins, to sort + store various manipulative toys and blocks. Again, these baskets purpose can change over time and they utilize the space while keeping order. To label we used acrylic discs that can easily be updated in the future.
We adore how this space turned out! Let us know what is your favorite part!
